The saddest part about this generation is that nobody’s truly gone — they’re just unavailable. A year of watching people slowly disconnect from one another. We’ve become emotionally allergic to participation.

We spend our entire lives trying to explain ourselves, and still walk away from every conversation feeling like we left the most important part out. Because language has a ceiling, and some of what we feel lives above it. We've had centuries of words, and still, when it matters most, why do our minds go blank?

I can’t remember who I was a year ago, only that she existed. Somewhere along the way, my shoes stopped fitting the way they used to, and I kept walking.
